48.  Still have a question?

1.  Why do I need MyCosmik?

Answer: If you travel internationally you’ve seen the charges for mobile international calls by your service provider; which can escalate into the hundreds or thousands of dollars. Most solutions require you to use a second local number and phone for the country you’re traveling to or use lesser technology which requires an internet connection via Wifi, or an expensive 3G data connection.

With MyCosmik you get convenience and affordability without sacrificing quality. MyCosmik works with your phone and number – no more switching or juggling. MyCosmik offers significant cost savings – between 50% and 90% – over your current carrier when making or receiving calls when you are traveling internationally; as well as making calls from your home network to someone who is abroad. Also MyCosmik uses GSM network technology – the same technology your carrier uses in your home network coverage. That means the same reception abroad that you receive at home. Plus MyCosmik works worldwide without restriction. Doesn’t that sound like something you need?

2.  Will MyCosmik help reduce my phone bill?

Answer: Yes! When traveling abroad you’ll save at least 50% on mobile roaming calls as opposed to your cell providers typical mobile roaming fees. For calls to someone who is out of the country when you’re at home MyCosmik could save you up to 90%. Also while traveling abroad you’ll have access to over 60,000 Wi-Fi hotspots at reduced costs.

3.  Does it cost anything to use MyCosmik?

Answer: The only costs that you’ll incur with MyCosmik is the price of a local SIM card for the country you’re traveling to and the cost of MyCosmik minutes, which save you from 50% to 90% over your mobile carrier’s fees for international mobile calling. The actual MyCosmik phone app and account are both provided free of charge.

4.  How long does it take to register?

Answer: How fast can you type your name, number, and email address?

5.  How do I import my contacts to MyCosmik?

Answer: MyCosmik’s mobile phone app uses your current address book so there is no need to import them.

6.  Can I invite my friends to MyCosmik?

Answer: That’d be great. Thanks! There will be different incentives for doing so. So please check the site for further information, as it becomes available.

7.  Can I call people who don’t have MyCosmik?

Answer: Absolutely! You’re able to make calls to anyone, anywhere.

8.  I don’t have 3G can I still use MyCosmik?

Answer: If your phone isn’t a smartphone or 3G/GSM compatible, then unfortunately not.

9.  Can I use MyCosmik internationally?

Answer: Yes! That’s what we created it for – to use when traveling abroad.

10.  Does MyCosmik include advertisements?

Answer: To keep MyCosmik’s mobile phone app, and your MyCosmik account, free of charge requires that MyCosmik consider advertising at times. When we do, it will always be as unobtrusive as possible. It’s important that we keep MyCosmik as affordable as possible for you.

11.  What does MyCosmik do exactly?

Answer: MyCosmik is an international mobile roaming service that works in place of your service provider’s mobile roaming feature. MyCosmik compared to your service provider makes international calls at a significantly lower cost.

12.  Will MyCosmik definitely work with my mobile phone operating system?

Answer: Yes. MyCosmik’s mobile roaming app is available for use with Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia (Nokia), and Java.

13.  Do I need an app for my phone to get started with MyCosmik?

Answer: Yes – the MyCosmik mobile roaming application. Its interface is quite user-friendly and its available for free download in all app stores.

14.  What happens if my Local SIM card is lost or stolen?

Answer: You will need to purchase another Local SIM card with active minutes to continue saving with MyCosmik.

15.  How do I send an SMS message when using MyCosmik?

Answer: MyCosmik can only forward your incoming calls to the Abroad SIM not your incoming text messages.  To manage your texts you’ll need to insert your Home SIM back into your phone. When done re-insert your Abroad SIM to keep using MyCosmik. You won’t receive calls when your Home SIM is in.

16.  Can I call 911 or other emergency numbers with MyCosmik?

Answer: You may not be able to, so its best to remember that MyCosmik isn’t a replacement for your phone. Though, it will not impede you from calling through your local SIM card, either.

17.  Do you provide full VoiP or GSM coverage?

Answer: MyCosmik uses the same GSM networks as your cell phone carrier; not the much less reliable VoIP which other services use. This means better coverage and quality for you.

18.  What about Wi-Fi?

Answer: Yes. MyCosmik accesses over 60000 Wi-Fi hotspots globally at reduced costs.

19.  Will I be able to track and manage my account online?

Answer: Absolutely. When you download the mobile phone app you’ll create a MyCosmik account – either through the app or on our website. Once registered you’ll be all set to manage your account at your convenience online.

20.  How do I add credit to my account?

Answer: Through your MyCosmik “MyAccount” section – which is online at www.mycosmik.com or available through the MyCosmik mobile phone app itself under “add credit.” In addition, if you don’t want the hassle of refueling your credit manually, there’s also an “automatic refuel” option available. Through it, with your credit card, you set when and how much credit gets added to your account.

21.  What payment methods do you accept?

Answer: We accept all major credit cards and payment through Paypal accounts.

22.  If I prefer to not pay by credit card – what should I do?

Answer: The best option for you would be Paypal. If you haven’t already, consider getting a Paypal account. It’s secure, easy to use, and a widely accepted means of payment for e-commerce.

23.  How do I obtain a receipt or invoice for my payments?

Answer: Your account keeps track of call history, minutes used, and minutes purchased. This information is available through your MyCosmik “MyAccount” as a downloadable document at MyCosmik.com.

24.  How do I make changes to my account details?

Answer: Log in to your MyCosmik account – with your computer or open the app; then make the changes needed, save, and exit.

25.  How does MyCosmik work?

Answer: The MyCosmik mobile phone app on your smartphone while using the Local SIM card for the country you’re in reroutes your call, whether making one or receiving one, through the local GSM network as if it were a local call – not an international call on the local network. It’s an elegant and effective solution that MyCosmik has worked out with cell phone carriers worldwide.

26.  What is a GSM network?

Answer: GSM stands for Global System for Mobile communications. GSM is currently the world’s most widely used cell phone technology. GSM uses digital technology and is a second-generation (2G) cell phone system. Cell phones use a mobile service carrier’s GSM network by searching for cell phone towers in the nearby area and then connecting to them, when authorized through the SIM card in the phone.

27.  What is a SIM Card?

Answer: SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module. It’s a microchip about the size of a postage stamp that is inserted in your phone. It provides a unique ID for your phone, such as your billing details and phone network permissions that authorize your phone to use your mobile carriers wireless network. It also provides encryption to your phone calls so they can’t easily be listened to.

28.  What is a Home SIM card?

Answer: A Home SIM card is the SIM card that your phone uses everyday on your home network. You registered it with MyCosmik as your “Home” SIM when you signed up.

29.  What is an Abroad SIM?

Answer: An “Abroad” SIM card is the temporary SIM card for the country you’re visiting. It usually has prepaid minutes. Always remember to find an Abroad SIM card that sends international text messages and to keep it loaded with credit. There is a convenient means to purchase a local SIM card for the country you’ll be visiting through the MyCosmik site which connects you with Telestial, an online provider of Local SIM cards.

30.  Where do I buy an Abroad SIM card?

Answer: Your best bet is to buy an Abroad SIM card before your trip so you don’t have to when you arrive. The most convenient way to do so would be through the MyCosmik site which connects you to Telestial, an online seller of local SIM cards. If that’s not possible ABroad SIM Cards can be found at airports local tobacco shops and electronic stores in the country you’re visiting.

31.  Is there anything I should watch out for when purchasing an Abroad SIM card?

Answer:
1. Pay close attention to the per minute calling price and the set up fee per call.  Select the SIM card with the lowest prices for calls to the fixed network.
2. Make note of the expiration date and PIN code for the SIM card. Make sure it is valid!
3. Make note of how to refuel the SIM card and make sure you always have credit on the card. If the card runs out of credit MyCosmik may not work.

For more questions regarding Abroad SIM cards email us at info@mycosmik.com

32.  How do I turn OFF Anti-Roaming?

Answer: To turn off Anti-Roaming, press “Turn Off Anti-Roaming.”. It will ask you to insert your Home SIM card and dial #21# .  Calling #21# sends a command to your mobile carrier. No one will answer, instead, a flash message will appear saying “forwarding of calls deactivated” or “divert cancelled”. If a “Network busy” message appears, try again. Once this is done, your calls will arrive like normal to you Home SIM card. Do this when you arrive at home. This can be done while abroad, but it’s not recommended because you will have to pay high roaming costs.

33.  MyCosmik’s Anti-Roaming is not working. Why?

Answer: Make sure these 3 requirements are fulfilled. If one isn’t fulfilled Anti-Roaming won’t work.

Requirement #1:
You need to be able to forward your calls. To use Anti-Roaming you must be able to forward your incoming calls from your Home SIM to an Abroad SIM. Most mobile carriers allow subscription users to do this. But cash card users are sometimes not allowed. Ask you mobile carrier if you’re allowed to forward calls to a local number.

Requirement #2:
You need an un-locked phone. You’ll be asked to insert a different SIM card into your phone (Abroad SIM). Phones that are locked to a specific carrier don’t allow this. If you’re not sure test this by trying to insert a different mobile carrier’s SIM card into your phone. If the phone accepts the SIM your phone is not locked. To unlock your phone search online for an unlocking service or re-install MyCosmik to a phone that is unlocked.

Requirement #3:
You need an “Abroad SIM.” An “Abroad SIM” is a local SIM card for the country you’re visiting. So, if you’re visiting the USA, you need a USA SIM card. If you travel to Mexico, you’ll need a Mexican SIM card. It can be either a cash card (prepaid) or a subscription. You’ll find cash cards can be easily purchased in many local stores/ For example, they’re for sale in most airports, tobacco shops, or mobile carrier stores.  Most importantly, make sure the vendor tells you how to activate it and add credit. Also, choose a card that makes local calls cheaply and can send international text messages.

34.  How can I unlock my phone?

Answer: There are many services available online where you pay and they email you a code. For an easier alternative we suggest using a chip that you insert on top of your SIM card inside your phone. Purchase one here: www.simable.com.  In addition, while laws vary from country, unlocking your cell phone is considered legal as long as the unlocked phone is used for the sole purpose of connecting to a wireless network.

35.  How do I make a call?

Answer: To make calls using MyCosmik please refer to the user guide on the MyCosmik site for your mobile phone.

36.  Can I use MyCosmik at home?

Answer: Yes. You will save 75% or more on international calls. Just open the MyCosmik app when you’re at home. Keep your Home SIM in the phone and make your international calls from the MyCosmik phonebook.

37.  What will my regular mobile provider charge me?

Answer: Your mobile carrier will only charge you a local fee every time you receive a call when Anti-Roaming is on – not a mobile roaming fee like it normally does when you receive calls abroad! They will send you a bill at the end of the month as usual but it will not include any roaming charges. If you have free local minutes on your calling plan, you will be charged nothing.

38.  Will people calling me pay extra?

Answer: No. People will call your mobile phone number as usual to reach you and they will be charged for a normal local call by their carrier. They won’t even notice you’re abroad!  But when you call them they may not recognize the number you are calling from.

39.  What will MyCosmik charge me?

Answer: For the international part of each call, MyCosmik will debit your MyCosmik account a per minute fee for every incoming call you receive and for the outgoing calls you make. All together, this is about 75% cheaper than if you had only used your regular mobile carrier while abroad. If you don’t believe it, just click on “Show Savings”.

40.  What are my Payment Options?

Answer: You have two choices: either by credit card or with your PayPal account.
